Appearance
Baltic Birch’s core is unlike traditional plywood you may be used to seeing: the layers of inner plies are 1.5 mm-thick solid birch veneer, cross-banded, and laminated with exterior grade adhesive. And it has a void-free core, meaning we do not need to hide the edges with edge banding because they look good naturally.

Types of finishes we use on our wood
Overall coating: Hardwax Oil.
We use hardwax timber oil for all our wood coating. It is different from traditional lacquer, varnishes and polyurathane etc.
Hardwax Oil is an innovative hardwood flooring finish that consists of 3 layers of wax oil produced from natural components. Among the main ingredients of Hardwax Oil are organic oil, wax of Carnauba palm tree and other natural components. Hardwax Oil is an oxidative finish and it dries out on open air. The application is easy, therefore it helps to bring down the cost price of production.
Once fully cured, the surface is extremely tough and hard-wearing.
-
It is water-repellent and dirt-resistant. The finish is resistant against wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juices, milk and water etc. when dry according to DIN 68861 1C (German Industrial Norm).
-
Dirt can easily be removed without trace.
-
Renovating, even partially, is easy. Just clean and re-treat worn areas: No sanding, no repair marks, no removal of previous coating.
The wear resistance of treated timbers with hardwax oil even exceeds that of conventional timber seals and varnishes.
The brand we use is Osmo, PolyX-Oil (Satin-matt look).
Color stains:
In order to create special contracts of non-natural colors, we uses good quality stains to achieve that.
-
For Intense Black color stain: the brand we use is Rubio Monocoat, Intense Black Precolor Easy. Nothing beats the outcome of this stain color.
Table top protection add-on: Epoxy clear coat.
For better durability, matte-finished epoxy coating on table top is available at an extra cost.
-
This coating is water-proof, has a great heat (melting point > 180°C) and chemical (nail polish etc) resistance.
-
It gives the surface a total poreless look and smooth feel.
-
This is a good subsitute for customers who prefer to cover their precious table top with protection like glass or a thick clear plastic lay-over.
Other types of materials we use
Metal Furniture Legs
Usually we use RHS Steel, also known as rectangular hollow structural sections. They are strong, rigid, stable and durable.
We coat them with black and matte powder-coating. The size for the RHS we use is 25x75mm as it fits most of our designs nicely.
